kinetic-horizontal-white-bkgd_72dpiHave you noticed Magic City Art Connection’s website has a new look on your mobile devices? Thanks to platinum sponsor, Kinetic Communications, we are adapting for the wave of the future. After hearing that 35% of our website traffic last year came from mobile devices like smart phones and tablets, we agreed that it was beneficial for the Festival to create a mobile-optimized site for users. To do this, Kinetic utilized a technique called adaptive design which adjust style sheets displayed to visitors based on the width of their browser. Our site optimizes the content for 5 slide points.

concept-tablet-portraitThis may all sound like a bunch of technical jargon to the normal person. In essence, the website will take all of the content and imagery and repackage it for the best design on these more mobile devices. There is no pinch zooming in and out to navigate the site anymore. Content is easy to read. And visually, it is much easier to interface with and get where you want to go quickly. The biggest visual change is that the menu is now accessible through a drop down in the upper left hand corner, which is a very common design functionality users see online these days.

So, take a test drive of the website’s new adaptive design this weekend at www.MagicCityArt.com! View artists by medium or search them by name. Look up schedules for the live music and dance stages. Check out the culinary line up at Corks & Chefs. Donate online to show your love and support of MCAC, and more!

A HUMONGOUS THANK YOU to Jay Brandrup (founder & principal), Jenny Rankin (Project Manager guru), and the Kinetic Communications team who made this all possible. These guys can do anything. They are total pros, and a pleasure to work with, as always. We are loving our new mobile identity! We hope you will too.

We’ll see you at the 31st annual festival in Linn Park this weekend (Friday & Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-5). Find Art and more!
