An engineer by trade, photography has been an outlet for creative expression for me for the past two decades. My interest was initially piqued in high school when my Dad gave me a Minolta X370 35mm camera (back in the mid 80’s). At the time I’d also been exposed to some beginner’s darkroom work in school. It wasn’t until the late 90’s, however, that I picked up that same X370 and took it along on several trips (Italy, Yosemite, San Francisco, etc). From that point on the desire to study and improve has been continuously with me. My areas of interest lie most heavily in both landscapes and urban exploration. I not only enjoy the activity of shooting photographs (either at home in Birmingham or in a far away location), but I also truly enjoy the challenge of creating tangible pieces of art from my work.
I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama but spent the majority of my child growing up in Marietta, Georgia (suburb of Atlanta). I graduated from Mississippi State University in 1995 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. I’m married with four kids and I’ve been a partner in an engineering firm here in Birmingham since 2001, and once this career is over I look forward to pursuing the creation of art through photographs on a full time basis.
