Artist Bio
I am fascinated by the endless possibilities that can be created through color, form, light, texture, heat and gravity when working with glass. My life philosophy is that by embracing our diversity and working together, our creativity is enhanced and we can accomplish so much more than what any of us can do alone. This same frame of reference is applicable in my studio as multiple pieces of glass are fused to create a single unique work that reflects the individual components that are its foundation.
I am attracted to the beauty of glass as well as its form and function. My collection includes color panels, vases, jewelry and functional pieces of art created through basic forms – functional circles, squares and rectangles – often known as bowls, plates, and platters!
Each piece is hand cut from compatible glass, fused in the kiln at approximately 1450 degrees F and coldworked to obtain the desired finish. Works requiring form or dimension are returned to the kiln for a second firing at approximately 1200 degrees F to allow the glass to slump into a mold. All functional pieces are food safe and should be hand washed.
From painting to collecting, art has always been an important part of my life. I have been working in kiln formed glass since 2010 and I am inspired by nature, art and the urban environment.
