My work is influenced by the bright colors of Folk Art. I love to paint on interesting/old things. A twin bell alarm clock was the first non traditional thing I painted on, and it has blossomed from there. My favorite thing to paint on was an old cigarette vending machine. When I don’t use found objects, my husband or I frame my work in salvaged wood. I paint with oils and use seed beads, handmade papers, colored foils, and or gold leaf in my backgrounds. When I begin my work, I start with the object or the frame. I then decide what will be painted on it or in it. Generally, I save the beaded work for the found objects. I place seed beads one at a time into the mixed resin. I often use vintage Swarovski crystals when I can. The larger paintings tend to be completed using the gold leaf or handmade papers.
