Faces and places are the main subjects of my artwork. Portraits inspire me since I was small. I can still remember that feeling over the moon when my friend recognized himself in my drawing. It was a long way before I learned how to capture personality, expressions, and mood in a human face. Also, I found great inspiration for my art in traveling and exploring different cultures. Every city, like people, has a unique character, and personality.
I was a realist painter for years. I discovered a palette knife in 2003. It turned me away from realism to impressionism. With the palette knife, I found out that the colors could be more vibrant … the texture could be stronger.. the energy… the movement … It was a breath of fresh air! It gave me more confidence and freedom of expression than I knew before. My art is my diary, the way to communicate my feelings to the world.
