Artist Statement
I started painting late in life and have been a professional artist for about 12 years. I left the corporate world in Raleigh, NC and moved to Florida in 2015 to pursue a more relaxed lifestyle, along with my dream of being an artist. After 5 years and more wonderful art shows than I can count, I moved back to my home town of Huntsville, Alabama to spend time with my family.
I work exclusively with acrylics, using a palette knife, vibrant colors, and a lot of textures in my work. I think of myself as an impressionist but will sometimes lean a little into the abstract if the mood hits me. Living in Clearwater, I acquired a love for anything to do with the ocean, the beach, or Florida in general. You will still see that influence reflected in some of my work but now I’m incorporating more Alabama nature and landscapes into my art.
I still love doing art shows as it gives me the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people and talk about art for as long as anyone is willing to listen.
