My work begins in nature, connecting with animals and capturing those experiences with my camera and journal. Inspired by the distilled purity of religious icons and influenced by artists such as Rothko, Chagall, and Vermeer, those moments are translated into acrylic paintings filled with the spiritual love, joyful color, and unique texture of each experience.
I often include Sacred Geometry in my work–the principle (going back to Plato) that everything in the universe is designed from basic shapes. These shapes create stability, support function, and form aesthetic harmony. We see this throughout the natural world, from the cellular to the cosmic level. It’s the mark of the Maker’s hand and illustrates the interconnectedness of all things.
My passion is simply to express the wonder of it all–from atoms to stars–and to foster a greater appreciation and sense of stewardship for all the creations that make up and share our world.
