Artist Bio

As a native Californian, I have always been inspired by animals, color and the perfect balance of artistic beauty I find in nature.

At 18 years of age I moved to Birmingham Alabama and discovered a whole new world of inspiration. Historic architecture, gardening and insects became a fascination and continue to be great passions. My home and studio are both restored historic buildings in downtown Birmingham.

I work in various mediums including flame worked glass, ceramics, jewelry design and construction, pen, ink and water color paintings. Practicing in different mediums allows me to explore man types of styles, materials, textures and dimensions. And, frankly, keeps me from ever getting bored.

I’m primarily self taught with the exception of my flame worked glass which I studied in Venice Italy and other focused art schools. Feeling limited by commercially available pottery glazes, I began to study the chemistry of glaze making and I am now able to make my own. This has been my latest pursuit.

If I had to define how my Art effects my life, I would say that it leads me to beauty, joy and laughter and connects me to others in a way I most understand. And, it is the language I speak best.

If my work inspires you, then we are on a journey together and that not only gives me great joy, but makes it all worth it.
