Artist Statement
My current body of work is small batch, hand built functional pottery and sculptures created in hopes to honor mundane moments that add up to a life and to add elements of joy in our daily rituals, like having a favorite bowl or coffee mug. It’s the one you peer deeply into the cabinet for or maybe even wash if it’s dirty when you want to use it. It’s the one that makes your coffee hit harder, makes your tea especially soothing and gets your soup to your soul faster.
I believe in an innate connection between the maker and the user. Knowing that an object was thoughtfully created by another’s hands, with the end product winding up in your own, establishes an immaterial connection that resonates through the whole life of the object.
