2D Mixed Media | Painting
Birmingham, AL

I was born in Luzy, France in 1946. After an obligatory stint in the French Army, I worked in oil prospection in the Far East (Indonesia and Papuasia), travelled from New York to Argentina in a home built VW camper. I came back to Birmingham in 1974 to marry the “Southern Belle” I met on the way. We will celebrate our 51st Anniversary next year.

I have been a “local artist” since 1975, and was doing the Sidewalk Show before the Magic City Art Connection even existed. I was in this show at the beginning. I have done many outdoor shows and won many awards over the years, including Best of Show in early Magic City Art Connections and the $15,000 Best of Show in the 1994 Gasparilla Festival in Tampa.

I also had numerous one man shows at galleries in Birmingham, Chattanooga, New Orleans and Atlanta, as well as a show at the Wiregrass Museum in Dothan.

A mechanical engineer by training, I am entirely self taught. Starting as an avid amateur photographer, I have over the years learned to draw, paint, model, cast bronze and sculpt.

I have recently started painting in oils again after a long hiatus to finish a piece
abandoned in a corner of the studio many years ago. I am now in the process of
producing a brand new set of trompe l’oeil still lifes to be unveiled at the Magic City Art
Connection. I will also bring to the show and offer for sale a number of older pieces
from my private collection.
