Artist Statement
I work in the oldest medium known to humankind: stone carving. But instead of carving big blocks of stone, which I am originally trained in, I carve marble and granite tiles. The use of thinner tiles allows the reliefs to be hung on the wall, as unique wall sculptures. After I carve the stone, I cut it with a wet saw and inlay it with other material such as river rocks, or glass, which makes them even more sculptural. My designs celebrate the patterns and growth found in nature.
