Artist Statement:
Being completely self-taught Mark & Amy set out to create a process that was truly original and distinctive. Their stained glass and wood mixed media has evolved over the years and encompasses an eclectic body of work that is strongly influenced by the abstract beauty of nature with an emphasis on trees.
Their process is a fusion of techniques, combining elements of wood, mosaics and stained glass to create a non-traditional-contemporary version of stained glass that instead of having to be placed in a window it can be hung as art on the wall. Thus, reinventing an old favorite to be enjoyed all the time in a fresh, modern way.
